Minnesota Youth Ski League-MYSL
THE CHALLENGE
MYSL’s website is being used as an administrative and annual registration tool, a source to any and all information MYSL-related, and a portal to the 40+ clubs for the 1000+ members including volunteers, coaches, parents and youth skiers. It has been 7 to 8 years since the website was last redesigned, so they would like the design and layout freshened up, including a reorganization of the main navigation and hierarchy of the site’s current information structure.
RECOMMENDATION
To better serve the needs of everyone under the large umbrella of MYSL, it is recommended that the administrative work between the league and clubs be done with a tool outside of the website. This would provide new and returning members with a leaner site that is easier to access via mobile devices, making it a handy source to scheduling and location information, and a quick link to their clubs.

RESEARCH AND DISCOVERY
RESEARCH INTERVIEWS
Notes, audio and video recordings were taken during research interviews with current and non-members of MYSL to discover initial pain points of current website, and learn more about the core values of parents with kids in MYSL or other extra-curricular activities.

PERSONAS AND JOURNEY MAP
The annual registration for club memberships was consistently brought up during our research interviews, therefore to get into the headspace of returning members, we developed the persona of Allison, mother of two, and mapped out the steps needed to register her family with the new website.
