MnTECH DESIGN STRATEGY SYSTEM
THE CHALLENGE
Design a multi-touchpoint strategy for MnTech that will attract new members and engage current members.
RECOMMENDATION
Incorporate MnTech’s Mobilization board(s) into it’s Communities of Interest (COI) landing pages
Reorganize the website with a clear hierarchy to improve usability
Current members can stay engaged and participate by attending and creating events (thereby becoming ambassadors), and bring new members to learn about the career benefits and support that MnTech and the COIs can bring them.

RESEARCH
The Director of Community Engagement at Minnesota Technology Association met with us to answer questions we had about the opportunities and pain points currently experienced while trying to increase the participation of current members and acquiring new members.
I conducted secondary research by auditing social media, mobilize and MnTech’s current website.
THE STRATEGY
A journey map was created to help visualize the touchpoints in which users could attain goals while engaging with MnTech.
A design strategy was developed from the journey map and then placed into a handy one-page grid that can be referred to by stakeholders while implementing the plan.
PROTOTYPED IDEATIONS
I wire framed and prototyped the of the Communities of Interest landing page and the Tech Careers 1.0 page to show how our design strategy would help users quickly and easily obtain this content and stay engaged with other members.
Tech Careers 1.0, A COMMUNITIES OF INTEREST (COI) LANDING PAGE
Wireframes were hand sketched, then built digitally in Sketch. A high fidelity prototype was then built to show stakeholders that users goals would be met by creating a clear hierarchy of information and adjusting the layouts accordingly.
PRESENTATION
A persuasive presentation video was created by the team for client presentation showing how the hypotheses, user goals, and design strategy worked within the journey map, along with prototyped mockups and personas. Using the illustrated cartoon personas of Josie and Jeff made the entire experience more real, and the hand drawn look of the journey map and icons even more relatable; overall an effective way to give the strategy and touch points authenticity.
